CHANEL designed fabric handbags for fall 2012

Chanel sent their haute couture collection for fall/winter 2012/2013 down the Paris Fashion Week runway at the Grand Palais this week giving handbag and Chanel fans everywhere the fabric handbag. The fabric handbags shown by Chanel on the haute couture runway were understated, classic, offered texture and reflected the soft pastel trend which has been emerging since spring 2012 from Paris designers. Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld sent fabric handbags down the Paris haute couture runway which were fashioned out of fabric identical to the ensemble the handbags were shown with on the models. Chanel offered the design houses’ iconic classic shoulder bag and 2.55 handbags on the fall 2012 haute couture runway. The classic shoulder bags and 2.55 handbags were shown in small and medium sizes which are in line with fall 2012’s trend
Fall 2012 handbag trends: texture
The fall 2012 runways in New York, Paris, London and Milan gave handbag fans everywhere many new styles and colors to think about for the upcoming cool weather season. One of the biggest trends in handbag fabrications spotted on the catwalks was texture.
As designers showed color blocking, exotic skins and new, non-leather fabrications for the upcoming fall 2012 season, they decided to add something new to the overall look of the handbags. Textured fabrics popped up in the form of smooth leather paired with fur, exotic skins, velvet paired with leather, synthetic fabrics paired with faux leather and real leather paired with brocade and embroidery.
Textured handbags were shown mainly in clutches, satchels, and shoulder bags. Many designers opted for tonal texture by pairing multiple fabrications together in the same color which instantly added dimension to solid colored handbags. While color blocking was also a huge trend on the runway for fall, few color blocked handbags were shown with texture.
